A cookbook you can actually navigate, a dark mode you can read, and downloads that work in the apps.
New features
Find any recipe fast
Recipes can now carry a course, any number of your own tags, and the meals they suit. Group the cookbook by meal or by course, filter by course, and sort by A-Z, recently added or most cooked. Your grouping is remembered on that device; the filter is not, so the cookbook always opens showing everything.
Dark mode you can read
The whole palette after sunset has been rebuilt on measured contrast, so every shade of text now reads clearly on every surface it can land on. Bright colours stay bright, and warm places like the cookbook and the scrapbook keep their warmth rather than turning grey.
Downloads work in the apps
Saving or sharing a file from the iPhone and Android apps did nothing at all: the recovery kit, meal-plan PDFs, data exports and saved photos all reported success and produced no file. They now open the share sheet, where "Save to Files" (or "Save to device" on Android) puts the file where you want it.
Recipes arrive with their photo
A recipe captured from a web link now picks up the dish photo far more often. beanies works through the page’s own images in order and accepts modern formats it used to refuse. A recipe with no photo gets an on-brand illustration instead of an empty card.
Tablets can turn sideways
On an iPad or an Android tablet the app now rotates freely and follows your own rotation-lock setting, which is the only sensible way to mount a beanie wall. Phones stay portrait, as before.
