we don't run ads or sell your data. so after 90 days, if you want to stick around, it's three bucks a month for beanies basic. you can also self-host, which will always be free.
a generous (if i do say so myself) free trial. every feature, every family member, the beanie wall, the finances, and more. the only limitation is one magic bean per day, because i have to pay for those. after that, beanies goes read-only until you pick a plan. no hard feelings either way: your data is always yours, exportable any time.

Hi there, beanies - here are my thoughts on pricing. And for those who are sick of hearing my thoughts, well... too bad.
First things first: The app is still free, and will remain free while it's in beta. The 90-day trial clock will only start when v1 lands.
I won't charge users for software that's not up to my standards for a live app. We're still working out the kinks, together, and I'm grateful for each and every one of my early adopter beanies who've been helping (even passively) to unearth those fiddly little bugs, issues, and snafus.
That said, I'm still footing the bill. And as I may have mentioned (once or twice), we don't harvest user data, run ads, or do any other revenue-generating things, so, like all good things, at some point the free ride has to come to an end.
My plans for pricing are listed right here on this page. If they change, you'll be the first to know.
beanies.family will be priced competitively. We may not always be the cheapest, but if we're not, it's because buying privacy costs more than selling ads. Rest assured, I'll keep prices reasonable, and always offer a basic tier at a low price.

do i really get everything in the app for 90 days?
you do - all the features across the entire app for your whole family. the only cap is magic beans (beanies ai), where you'll get one read per day.
what happens when the 90 days are up?
beanies becomes read-only. everything's still there and still yours, you just can't add to it until you pick a plan. export works any time, paid or not. and if beanies isn't for you, take your data and go. no hard feelings.
if i subscribe before my trial period is done, what happens to the trial period?
start now and billing begins today, the one-ai-per-day cap is removed, and your plan's full allowance kicks in. start later and nothing is charged until day 91, and the ai cap stays put until then.
what counts as one magic bean?
one magic bean (which is one ai read) is one document, invitation, itinerary, recipe, etc. with the trial you get one per day, beanies + magic beans gives you ten a day, and with beanies basic you get one each month. bring your own key and there's no limit from me at all.
how does this compare to cozi?
as of this writing (in sep 2026), cozi's ad-free plan is $39 a year and beanies basic is $30. their ai plan is $79 and beanies + magic beans is $84.99. we're about five dollars more, which is roughly due to beanies providing privacy rather than advertising. cozi has a free tier which runs on ads, while we have a 90 day trial period (and we'll never have ads).
i'm an early adopter beanie. what does that get me?
half price on either plan, forever, for joining before v1. that's $15 a year for beanies basic, or $42.49 for beanies + magic beans. no code, no expiry, and no renewal to miss.
how do you know i was here before v1?
your pod has a creation date, and that's the whole test. no code, no coupon, no screenshot. you don't need to do anything today except be here.
when is v1 coming?
v1 will be released once i've muscled my way through our outstanding bugs and issues list. we're getting closer to an acceptable (in my view) level of production stability every day. as of this writing (which is Sep 2026), i'd say we're a month or 2 away. i'll post updates here as we get closer.
what happens to my data if i stop paying, or leave?
nothing happens to it. it's your own encrypted file, not on my server, so there's nothing for me to lock or delete. stop paying and beanies goes read-only. export everything whenever you like, or take the file and go.
can i just run it myself for free?
yes. it's open source, and self-hosting is free, forever, no strings. you'll need somewhere to run it and a bit of patience, but you'll never see a bill from me.
will there be other currencies?
yes. usd and sgd first, because that's where most beanies live right now. others as families ask for them. the price is the price wherever you are - nobody pays more for being somewhere else.
