What is a pod?
A pod is your family's private space in beanies.family. It holds all your financial data, family members, activities, and goals — encrypted and stored in a single .beanpod file that you control.
Step-by-step setup
Open app.beanies.family and click Create a New Family
Enter your name and your email address — your family name is suggested from your name, and you can change it
Choose where your family file is saved — Google Drive (recommended), or on desktop a local file if you only plan to use one device. If you cancel Google’s permission screen, nothing is lost: tap Try again
Choose a 6-digit PIN — this is how you sign in on devices where your family is already set up
Save your recovery kit when beanies shows it — this is what gets you in on a brand-new device. Tap Open my pod when it is safe
Add your family members so they’re ready to assign to accounts and activities — or tap I’ll do this later and add them any time
Answer the one-tap “how did you hear about us?” question (or skip it)
Your pod is created! You'll land in the Family Nook
Your PIN signs you in on devices where your family is already set up. It cannot open your family file on a brand-new device — only your recovery kit can. Save the kit somewhere safe: we never see or store it, so if every device is lost and the kit is gone, nobody can open your data.
What happens next?
After creating your pod, you can add family members, set up bank accounts, record transactions, and start tracking goals. Everything is stored locally on your device until you choose to save to Google Drive.
On a computer you’ll also see a small use beanies on your phone too link at the end of setup. You can find the same thing later in Settings.
